Two Affairs with Mr. Crown

Both versions of The Thomas Crown Affair are exceptionally stylish films.  Beginning with the 1999 version, Rene Russo’s character was outfitted by Michael Kors for Celine.  For me, she has never looked better.  I love this version the most because of the Art-world plot adjustment.  The original featured Steve McQueen organizing a bank heist, the 1999 shows Pierce Bronsan stealing a Monet from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Fun fact: during the dancing scene Pierce Bronsan’s bow tie is never tied.   During filming, Pierce Bronsan was still the James Bond and it was a breach of contract to be shown in a full tuxedo.

Truthfully, I saw the 1999 remake before the original, but the 1968 version might be even more stylish.  I love Fay Dunaway here.  She is always immaculately put together, elaborate updos and layers of false eyelashes.  And Steve McQueen is just what you would expect him to be.
